trace elliot v-type head, which smal cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Scored a trace elliot v-type head and would like to some small cab recomendations. The head will mostly be used for homestudio recording, straight in, I wont mike the cab. The cab will be used for jamming/practice and the occasional barbeque, so does not have to be loud.

Found a few threads which recomended bergantino, aguilarand EA wizzy.

I always find it very difficult to describe the sound/tone I'm looking for. The drums we are using for the project are vintage(superiordrummer custom&vintage) sounding, so the bass can be warm but still needs some bite/growl to cut through. Like Bonham jamming with Geddy Lee(permanet waves/signals tone).

Love the drum sound on some 70's records but the bass can some times be too "warm". The drum/bass sound on Rush permantent waves complement eachother nicely. The bass tone in the begining of this clip might give you an idea of what I'm after.

Looks should not make a difference but when you are in a small room/studio trying to write new stuff/record/practice, the mood and atmosphere of the place is a big part of the inspiration. My homestudio is my cozy warm sanctuary and if I'm going to spend most of my nights learning new things pushing my technique and writing I don't want to be staring at an ugly black box(most cabs look like this to me nowadays).

Aguilars DB112 Boss tweed 1x 12 is more to my taste.

Anyway enough rambling. Think tool meets kyuss, for the bass tone if thats any help.
