I'm looking for information on the V8.
I know there used to be some web-sights dedicated to them, but I can't find them.
If the information is still out there but just not hosted any more, I would be willing to host them.
Any information would be appreciated. |

Just keep googling manual etc. to get all the specs.
I was looking at one available locally a little while ago, but some info pointing to *possibility* of overheating problems when running on full power made me think to look at something else.
That said, all the specs make it sound like one of the best all-tube amps made for bass. |

I went through to page 12 and I couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I do already own a V8 and I have a V6 coming from someone here on TB, now I'm just trying to gather more info.
I'm actually looking for more in depth information than the manual, I'm trying to find some real world info, i.e. what needs modifying for longevity sake, best replacement tubes etc.
I'm also looking to possibly convert the PT on my current V8 as mine is a UK version. I'm not sure if there is an internal switch for that or it needs a different PT as I couldn't find that in the schematics?
Thanks again for any and all help. |

Thanks again for any and all help. | There are many spurs for different voltages, right up to 245v, take it to a Tech and its a 5 min job to go down to 120v
There's a post on PV's for the V8 on here somewhere.
As for Pre Valves, thats simple, Mullard, Telefunken, Brimar GE. |

Mine has been modded with no fuses just good gauge wire, I did speak to the man himself years ago and he confirmed this was the way to go,''as we only put them in because of some sort of EU /US safety regulations''. |

Any opinions on converting speaker outs to Neutrik/Speakon besides the possible decline in value?
Thanks again. |

Thanks again. | Best just use the XLR and use speakon at your cab. The speaker outs are on dedicated pcb's making mods very difficult. |

I appreciate the help. |

Does anyone know the true output wattage of the V8?
Thanks in advance. |

Does anyone have a list of the pre amp tubes or phase inverter tube (not sure what the 8 smaller tubes do and in what order) ?
Thanks to anyone who knows this info. |

Paul | Luckily my playing is better than my schematic reading I'm not 100% sure of the odd tube (compression?) going by the schematic, and my amp has a mix and match set.
I hope a veteran owner wouldn't mind sharing their wisdom with a noob owner.
Thanks. |

PV, Power valves they're the 8 big ones at the back, should really be a matched set.
Preamp valves are at the front, there are 7 x 12ax7/ecc83, if these are not matching in make then this will not matter, if they are not matching in type, then replace so you have all ecc83.
The last valve on the left EM84, is an indicator of the power the amp is producing. Youtube EM84/Magic eye and see them working. |
