Trade SWR 410 or not... help me decide!

Hey guys. So my main rig is a Tecamp Puma 500 (that I love) on a SWR Golight 410 8 ohm. And for smaller gigs I use the Puma with a Bergantino HD112. I have noticed every time I get the chance to play through a Mesa Boogie 212 it blows me away! Such a deep, but tight sound with a nice high end thats not harsh, and a usable tweeter! As for my SWR 410, I like it, but it just doesn't get the same sound I get out of the Mesa 212 or my Berg 112. Maybe because I like 12's or I just don't care for the SWR sound. So finally my question... do I sell/trade in the SWR Golight 410 for the Mesa 212? And would the Mesa 212 be as loud, or close to SWR 410? I believe the SWR 410 is rated at 800 watts and the Mesa 212 is 600 watts. I know watts mean nothing and its speaker area, cab design, so on, I know all about that.

So do you guys think I should sell the SWR and get the Mesa?

I'm certain the 4x10 will outdrive the 2x12, but if the 2x12 is enough for you and you like the tone, then you don't need the 4x10...

Then would the Mesa Boogie PowerHouse 410 be a better choice? And would I feel the weight difference between the 212 (78 lbs) and the 410 (96 lbs)? An 18 pound difference.

if you like the 212, get it and ditch the swr
life is too short to stress over these issues.

Going to try the 212 and 410 side by side tomorrow at guitar center. Think the 410 is what I want. Anyone recommend any other 410's like the Mesa? Bergantino maybe?

Anything that's too heavy to take up a flight of stairs yourself takes two, at that point 78 lbs and 96 lbs are in the same ballpark. Might affect resale value as neo drivers become more common.

Still, the difference between the 2x12 and 4x10 will be more apparent in context, if you like the 2x12 so much better on stage than the SWR 4x10, chances are you'll prefer the 2x12 over the Mesa 4x10 too.

I recently tried a Genz Benz Uber Bass 410 side by side with a Uber Bass 212.

They both sounded fantastic, but I loved the slightly more rounded, warmer sound that the 212 gave. Used it now for a few months and in my opinion the 212 format is great for rock, but try em side-by-side and see which suits your playing style/sound better.

I second this. Man, don't stick to something because of several reasons (the only one i wouldn't apply is sentimental) But, why would you keep something you don't feel right using it. Go, trade, sell, buy, and keep your ears opening to that amp/cab you feel is the one. Don't stick to something unless you feel is the one.

I've played through a Mesa 410 powerhouse and a Bergantino 610 (NV maybe). I was pretty impressed with both. I had 2 Aguilar 112 cabs and it just wasn't loud enough for my band. I returned them and got an Aguilar 410 and it has plenty volume. I love my Aguilar DB410!

Yea I thought about that. Any advantages/ disadvantages to a 212 vs a 112 stacked on another 112? As far as portability? Wouldn't the 212 technically be easier?

It's really up to you, play through both and decide with your ears (and then your eyes). I would go for the 2x12 and Mesa gear is top line.

I would also say to find someone local that is playing either a fEARful cab or a Fearless.
I play through a 12/6/1 with a 12/sub fEARful stack with my Puma 900 and it kills.

I also have a Mesa WB 12 stack that sounds dynamite also...both with the mesa WB head or with the PUMA head.

Weight wise it is no contest. The Mesa Scout 12 weighs about 50# each while my 12/6/1 weighs in at 32# and the 12 sub is 26#.

I think you would be really happy with Mesa 12s over the 10s.

I play through a Markbass 500W head and a 4 ohm Mesa 212, and it's as loud as I'll ever need. I play in rock and metal bands too. Im thinking about ditching the Markbass for a head whose tone i like more with the Mesa, but the cab itself is a beast.

A 212 is a great comprmise between 15's and 10's. I run my Puma 500 with an Eden 212 and I'm digging life. For a smaller venues I have an old sealed 2x10 that I'll never get rid of. With my 212 and Puma I'm still punchy as hell, slap tones are adequate and I still have a smoother, bigger bottom with the 12's. For fingerstyle funk I'm cuttin through.
