Traditional Sounding 15 cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
These days with all the uber light stuff. I am wondering if any of these lighter 15" cabs still have an older school sound? I don't mind the presence of a tweeter/horn as long as it can be turned off.

I was really digging the specs of a Schroeder 15 but most put it in the super 112 sounding camp. This would possibly be matching up with an Ashdown LB30 all tube head. Part of me thinks why not just stick with an Ashdown 15"? I notice I can't find much info on them though.

I would love the portability of the newer designs, but perhaps that means no traditional sound out the lighter/modern cab. Wondering if any of you have had any luck in a similar pursuit.

I just got a pair of Bag End 15s - pretty traditional sounding to my ears. Little, no tweeter. They are efficient which could be useful to you. I would love to try out that head with my cabs! Running a Walkabout now.

Sounds like a killer setup! The Walkabout is a great head, I am thinking the LB will fill out everything I need. I am going to look up the bag end 15s

They're the S15-D - got them here through the TB classifieds. FYI these replace Schroeders, which are not too traditional sounding IMO. The Schroeders are loud, efficient, articulate, but not traditional.
