Traynor TS-50 into a Yorkville XM200 1X15 Combo into a Marshall 4X12

I have a Traynor TS-50 but I need more power.

Could I run a cord from the line out of the Traynor into the fx loop of the Yorkville, which is in turn attached to the Marshall cabinet?

Would this be safe to do?

Can I ask why you don't just run the Yorkville with the Marshall as an extension cabinet? I ran this rig for a long time and it was plenty loud enough for me on 4. (I used a Yorkville extension cab...but it's the same theory...) I dont know about running the Traynor as a pre-amp...I wouldn't do it.

The Traynor is pretty old(78-79) and it has a really gritty sound that I really like, it just isn't loud enough.

The Yorkville is plenty loud with the Marshall.

Any reason why you wouldn't do it or just general caution?

Hate to bump this so much, but if anyone out there knows it would be great.

Edit: I should add that I went over to my bands jam space today to practice and I tried it out. It sounds great, the eq from the the Traynor works and the Yorkville only powers it, the only problem is that neither of the volume controls on either amp do anything, volume is only controlled from the bass

The Traynor will work fine as a preamp. The output will be very hot, you might need to use an effects return or pad the signal somehow.

Or get a Rusty Box.

I second the Rusty Box suggestion.

So I looked up the Rusty Box, and it seems to me its just a preamp, a job which the Traynor already does, so excuse my ignorance, but why do I need it?

It has a master volume, which solves one of your problems.

It's also a nicer package to carry around and has a balanced line out.

But no, if the TS50 is working for you you don't need it. I've used a TS50, a TS50B, and a Rusty Box with assorted poweramps and would be fine with any of them.
