Ok, I'm curious. I don't know if my VB2 is ever gong to return to its former glory It was a helluva amp until it went down.....
Considering a new tube head, very interested in the new Traynor as well as the Orange.
BTW, Geddy is Canadian so why the heck is he playing Orange instead of Traynor???
Traynor owners, especially if you have a YBA 300 let me know how you feel about your new amp.
Orange owners, do you know if the Orange is loud enough to compete with a GKMB500? (my back up amp) Maybe I should just go back to solid state. Crap.
I miss my Peavey
Anyway, Traynor or Orange? Thoughts? |

What happened? & why can't it be restored to it's former glory?

YBA300 has 300 Watts, 4 whole pounds less, better warranty and isn't orange. As for sound I prefer the Traynor but if possible you should try them both. That way you'll make yourself happy and know for sure.

Traynor's 2 year even if you break it warranty is excellent.

Bass Emporium still has AD200 on sale for $1599 (!) so I was giving it some consideration. Plus a lot of people seem to think very highly of them.... and considering Tom Petersson and Geddy Lee both use them hmmm.....
The Traynor does sound like a better deal though overall.
Don't know whats up with my VB2. Took it back to the tech, he rebiased it and said it was putting out 240w.... I played it in the shop and it sounded pretty darn good through 2x10's on his desk, but at home through my GB212 it still seems to be missing something. It's still got the damn Svetlana's in it....... he gave me the good tubes back that were in it (JJ's) but said he didn't think it a good idea to mix, but that he would reinstall them if I want him to. Considering he hasn't got the amp right yet, I don't think I want to take it back to him. I could ship it off to Peavey and they probably could restore it. I only paid $399 for the thing when I got it and it has served me so well up until now. Not sure if I want to keep it or move on to something different at this point, like a YBA300. |

I own both an Orange AD200 and SVT VR 300 watts, and the Orange cerainly gives the SVT a run for its money in clean volume. The Orange is a very special amp with a tone of its own and more bottom end than I have come across in other tube amps. |

The YBA300 has bottom a plenty and gives up nothing to the SVT or the Orange. No brag just fact.

I had a Traynor DB800H & (2) TC115 cabs and was never let down by it.
It was built like a tank and could do pretty much whatever you asked of it.
The only reason why I don't own it anymore is because I traded it in towards a Yorkville PA cabinet that I needed to complete another system that I have.
Seeing as I have mainly just been a sound reinforcement provider for the past 3+ years I needed the PA cab more then I needed the bass rig.......but I would buy one again without hesitation.
And the Yorkville/Traynor customer service is top notch, you would be hard pressed to find any better in any industry.
