Does Anybody know how much the Traynor yc-610 weighs, I'd like to get shipping quotes on one but the owner says he has no way of weighing it before hand?

Also if Anybody has any comments to add about this Cab, there's not allot of info out there on them.

I do not own a Traynor cab, but I do own a nice old Traynor head, the YBA-3. The heads are superb, in my opinion better than vintage Ampeg, but I've heard that the cabs are nowhere near Ampeg. I use the combination of the Traynor YBA-3 head and the Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab, and it just goes deeeeeep. Sweet buttery low end, that just rumbles through everything.
Depending on which amplifier you are going to use the cab with, I'm still sure you will get a warm vintage sound out of the cab.
I would like to have a matching Traynor cab for my Traynor head, but instead I found the modern Ampeg SVT 410HLF to be a good modern, more accessible alternative, which does deliver unmatched lows, being able to go much lower in frequency than both the standard non-ported 410HE and the famous Ampeg SVT 810. I'd prefer two 410HLF's over one 810 anyday, and with the Traynor head it sounds just sweeeeeet.
Sorry for rambling on about Ampeg, good luck with your Traynor, they are usually sold at bargain prices. I bought my Traynor head for the equivalent of 90 USD, in superb condition.
Do you have a Traynor cab, or are you going to use the cab with another amp?

I'm looking for the weight of the cab so I can get shipping quotes to have it shipped to me... I don't have a traynor cab. I have a couple EA cabs, and they are plenty low. I have a yba-1a and would like the matching sealed 6x10 cab. Volume of the cab is not too far off from a berg 6x10 and was thinking about replacing the marsland drivers with perhaps What Jim uses (Eminence???). Please I don't want an ampeg cab, If I did I'd go and buy one. If the yba1a isn't ever enough I have a trace v4 that ought to cover the difference, but the yba1a with a single 12 seems to be enough. I'd like to try out a yba3, but I've never seen one around here. The yba-1a seems to be a little closer to the tone I like than the Trace so I want to build off that.

Sorry, I just got caught by the wind and started rambling on. I've never had the pleasure of trying the YBA-1A but I could imagine that it sound similar to the YBA-3 but perhaps with less power = more driven sound, which is quite nice. I've only heard good things about the YBA-1, and would like to try one myself if I get the chance, though the YBA-3A (an even more powerful evil beast than the YBA-3 which is pretty loud) is on my top wish list. I think about putting genuine Traynor front grille cloth on my Ampegs so they will match the vintage tubey old-school look of the Traynor.
Good luck with your purchase anyway, nice to hear that I'm not the only one in the world who uses the good old Traynor amps. Good thing most people doesn't seem to know they exist, which let the last few of us get these amps at bargain prices.

Do your self a favour and don't replace the original Marsland speakers in the cab. Have them reconed. They were designed for a sealed cabinet, which most of todays newer speakers are not designed for. Most are designed for ported cabs and your YC-610 isn't ported.

I've recently reconed all of the Marslands in my YC-810 to keep the originality of the cabinet and have it sound as it was made too. A YC-810 and YBA-3 are the perfect match. But the YBA-1A (Mark II) and YC-610 comes pretty close.

As for weight, you'll find the cab to be approx 90 lbs uncrated. Count on another 20 lbs for packing/crating.

Post a photo of your rig in the Traynor thread once the YC-610 has arrived.

I've heard the original marsland speakers are a weak point??? You don't seem to agree?

The Marslands in your cabinet are rated at 25 watts each and are 8 Ohms. They were designed to function in a sealed cabinet like your YC-610.

I chose to recone mine rather than replace them because I wanted to keep the authenticity, originality and sound of the cabinet in tact. That was my goal and I achieved that.

If you want to change the tone of your cabinet, then replace the speakers in it. And if you do, make sure to buy ones that are designed to operate in a sealed cabinet in order to get the best sound from them.

That's good advise. First I want to try it out as the original combo, I'd like to keep the original speakers. If I'm unimpressed (I've never heard one yet) I may try reconing before replacing the speakers. I have full intentions If I do replace them to replace them with a speaker designed for a sealed cab of aproximatly the same volume as the yc610.

If you ultimately decide to replace the Marslands, you can buy replacement 80 watt 8ohm Emmence speakers from Yorkville Sound through your local L&M store. I seriously considered doing this, but decided against it because they are designed for a ported cabinet, not a sealed cabinet like your YC-610.

I have the Yorkville part number if you decide you want too. When and if you get to that point, PM me and I'll send you the info.

When you get the cabinet you can be pretty much assured that the Marslands will be in need of re-coning or replacement IF the cabinet has been stored in a damp basement or garage for any length of time. Hopefully it's been well taken care of and the originals will be fine.
