Tried one of these Low Down 75watt 110's today. Opinions please.

Its this amp, http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend....mp-?sku=480048

It seemed really loud and punchy and had a good SVT tone to it. I am just wondering how it would hold up in a loud band. At practice our guitar player uses 125 watt Crate guitar amp, our drummer hits hard and our poor singer has a 80 watt P.A. That is just at practice.

Now we know a lot of times amps can sound good alone, but I wonder if this little thing would cut through a full band rehearsal. It was punchy, and had some kick, but didn't have the fullness of my Acoustic B100 with a 1x15. The guy said he didn't understand why they didn't sell more of them. I wonder if its because they lack head room. I am not an anti-modeling guy but I will say I think that some of the mods were a little to processed and clean sounding. It lacked a bit of rawness. I mean the overdrive sounded great, but its was like a tone that was extracted straight from a CD or something.

So anyone tried these or owned these. Whats your take on them.

Whoa...for a second there, I thought Don was selling amps now too.

I have not played this particular combo, but I doubt a single 10" with 75 watts will keep up with what you describe above.

It won't. You can only get so much from a one cubic foot box and 75 watts. I'd rate it as a high quality personal practice rig or decent coffee-shop level amp, but it's not up to the demands of a loud band even for practice. For that matter few 110s are, unless twice that size driven by twice the power.

From experience - it didn't keep up with a Marshall valvestate 20 watts.
Not even with bass turned down.

+1 on the comments that it's not enough amp for your situation. Furthermore, it's not one of those overpowered little monsters, that take on a new personality when you add an extension cabinet.

What you hear in the store, is pretty much all you're ever going to get. I quickly traded mine for an older SWR Workingman's 10, which is far from my favourite amp, but has a LOT more punch on the gig.

Also, IME there's something veiled about the way the Lowdown's sound. It wasn't particularly bothersome at first, but it got to me after longer exposure. Like hiding your favourite tones under a blanket.

I've neen using this Line 6 110 75 watter for 2 years as an at home practice amp and a dozen or so times in small club type settings with a 4 piece band and the drummer does not play LOUD. I'm talking 30 to 40 people. No problems, good solid tight sound. I don't use the effects other than finding and setting two settings that work for me. I love this 24 pound cube amp.

BUT- my main rig is a Markbass 250/500 2 channel head and a 2 X10 MB traveller cabinet.
