Question Trying to see if OHMS match?

Sign in to disble this ad
Trying to see if the ohms of a pro series 350w SWR Bass Head threw a 2x15 Big Bertha SWR Cab match. Both were purchased at the same time in the late 90's. I'm sure the amp is four ohms but believe it or not I cannot find credible information on the BIG BERTHA CAB...anyone know? or Have Links to Specs? This Bertha looks different than most i seen and i believe both the amp and cab are first generation..

"ohms" dont have to "match".

There's a great FAQ on this.

The chances that your head is 8 ohm minimum or that your cab is a 2 ohm cab are very slim. therefore as long as you only run one cab (the one in question) off the head the chances of it being too low a load on your amp is nearly nill.

I suspect all is well and you can just plug and play.

BIG BERTHA
SWR's first and only 2x15 enclosure, this rock-oriented cabinet was an old-school take on the famous SWR sound, and was famously featured in an advertisement with Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap.

Power Handling Capacity: 700 watts RMS
Impedance: 4 ohms
Two 15" P.A.S. or Foster drivers (depending on production date)
One horn tweeter
Weight: 98 lbs.
Size: 23 3/4"W x 36 1/2"H x 18. 1/2"D

If the above link does'nt work, try to google "SWR Big Bertha Specs"

Big Bertha is indeed 4 ohms and I believe the 350 head was 2 ohm capable so you shouldn't have a problem. My drummer has the 750 head which was the bigger brother to the 350 and I know his is 2 ohm capable.

Went and checked SWRs website. They have all the manuals. Assuming you have the chrome face 350 your amp is stable at 2 ohms so you're good. Interestingly my friends chrome 750 is rated for 2.6 ohms minimum, not 2. Weird.
