Would playing through two 2x10 cabs sound the same as playing through one 4x10 cab? Don't know if this subject has been covered already. Opinions welcome. Thanks. |

I had the same question, and decided to go the 2 210 route. For my situation, it just gives me MORE flexibility. I can get 2 8 0hm cabs, and use one for small gigs, and use both for larger situations.
That's MY decision, but yours may differ.

Even more tricky running 2 of the Acme 2x10s because then you are dealing with 2 tweeters and 2 5" woofers which can mess up the sound. |

Thanks. | To many, the differences are subtle, but you will get drivers and tweeters closer to your ears with a stacked 2 x 2 x 10" setup. You'll get better mids dispersion according to others, but I've never done a comparison.
The ease of moving 2 smaller 2 x 10" cabs (especially neodymium woofer cabs) compared to an awkward 4 x 10" is worth extra expense of 2 cabs. For me a 2 x 2 x 10" setup is a no-brainer, for you I can't say.

I have an Eden 2x10XST I use for smaller gigs with an Eden WT550 and was undecided about buying an Eden 4x10XST or adding another 2x10XST for larger venues. I'm going the 2 2x10 route.
I have an Ampeg 4x10 and SVTCL that I drag to the bigger giggy gigs, but hate hauling all that weight when I might not have to. |

They work perfectly in a vertical stack and I've been running mine this way for more than a decade.

I nearly loved my 4x10 - but it's a hassle to schlep!

I personally would never play a gig with just one. Having the pair brings the top cabinet much closer to the ears so you can hear it better. Having two on my dolly is still the same number of trips from the van as compared with one. Running with a pair also give you more leeway if things start to get a little loud as the evening wears on and the folks get tipsy.

I have an Ampeg 4x10 and SVTCL that I drag to the bigger giggy gigs, but hate hauling all that weight when I might not have to. | I ran an Eden 210XLT on top of my 210XST for years and it was absolutely killer. The two cabs balanced each other out perfectly and the tone was huge. I also owned a 410 XLT 4 ohm cab and in a side by side comparison, the 210 stack killed the 410 for overall punch, volume and deep low end. If you already have the XST, an XLT cab will fill out all the growly sweet mids that are missing in the XST cab. I was never happy with the tone of either cab by themselves but blended together, sounded fantastic. TheXST cab is too scooped to my ears and the XLT is a bit too aggressive in the mids.

The XLT/XST cabs make a great stack.
