Two burning questions about Promethean combo

Sign in to disble this ad
I tested a Promethean P5110 today and was VERY impressed. I've read somewhere that the head can be detached (How come Ibanez has no on-line manual?) and placed on top of the cab. Is this true?

Assuming that it can be detached, (1) is the head the same as the $499 Promethean head? (2) can the cab/speaker be used separately for another amp head?

Bass Player reviewed this you may be able to find the answer there?

Not sure why there's no manual on their web site. There's not much product information at all. Yes, the head can be detached. It's four thumb screws. Search you tube for Promethean review. You'll find videos that Donovan from this forum posted. Good reviews and he shows you how the head dettaches.

It will power two seperate cabs...one via speakon and the other with a 1/4 jack.

There's a pdf manual on their Web site. I looked everywhere to locate it. BUT, the file is corrupted (I tried downloading it on 3 different PC's. Does Ibanez want to sell the Promethean?)

I found the videos by Donovan. The detachable head is the same Promethean head. I don't think I could place the head on top of the cab because of too short a speaker cable. It's unclear if the cable is permanently attached to the speaker.

I'll call Ibanez tomorrow.

It is the same head as the stand alone head. The 1x10 combo has a 1/4 cable hardwired to the combo cab which is permanent. After you removed the head from the combo, you use a seperate speakon or 1/4 cable to plug a cab in. When you reattach the head, you use the fixed 1/4 cable.

Thanks for clarification.
