Two db 112’s vs One db 112?

Sign in to disble this ad
im thinking of adding another Aguilar DB112 to the one i have. i love the DB112 and my AG500 but i need a little more “Booty” and volume when the bands i play with get loud. How much louder would 2 DB112’s be than just the one. I use an AG500 head that is 250 watts @ 8 ohms and 500 watts @ 4ohms. I know loudness depends on how much surface area you’re pushing so i guess it would be louder but not sure. just seeing if anyone has 2 DB 112’s that they can compare to just one DB 112. thanks

You will at least double your volume between the extra cab and the wattage boost. It's mostly the cab that does it, but the wattage boost in conjunction with the second cab will give it a little extra that it wouldn't have had otherwise. You'll also get a significant low end boost. Two matching cabs is highly recommended by anyone who knows anything about audio, especially if you're using a relatively small single woofer cab like the db112. Turn the tweeter off the bottom one and orient them vertically for best results.

Yeah it's significantly better. I run a Mesa WA with mine and I've never been short of volume with the pair. And that's with a 300 watt amp. YMMV

It will give you a way big grin if you do like Jimmy said.

I had the DB112 pair for a while a couple years ago. One was just barely not enough for most things. Two was always enough for anything I did.

You will get a lot more out of having two of them.

Thanks everyone, i just needed some reassurance. The one 112 is great but unless its up next to your ear its not quite enough for most situations i play in. i think 2 db 112’s is going to rock and still be more portable than my db410. Love the db 410 for the big stuff but the 2 db112’s for the little stuff that can get big after the second set i think this will be great. i also may try and set a 112 on top of my 410 one day i bet that would sound great also. thanks again

Mixing driver sizes does not always work out.

Additionally, if the cabs are of equal impedance, you will be sending half the power to a single 12" and the other half to a cab with 4 speakers. Your 112 will be come the weak link in your rig, as at any decent volume it will be doing some heavy work while the 4X10 is barely breaking a sweat.

Not to mention the extra elevation, so you'll hear yourself better...

yeah i guess the 12 on top of the 410 wouldn’t work out now that you point that out. thanks. As far as elevation your right with the 2 db112’s it will be nice to have it not playing to my feet. so 2 will be an improvement just for elevation alone. thanks
