two extension cabs into combo amp

Sign in to disble this ad
is it possible to connect two 8 ohm extensions cabs into a combo amp? the reason for the question is i have a combo amp that is 4 ohms and requires a 4 ohm extension cab. If i buy a 4 ohm extension cab and later want to buy a bass head i would either have to buy a 2 ohm bass head to be able to combine it with another 4 ohm cab to make my complete stack. if i buy two 8 ohm cabs i can use them later with pretty much any head i want due to most amps function at 4 ohms. any thats or am i just being crazy?

Two 8 ohm cabs will equal a 4 ohm load. Daisy chain the two 8 ohm cabs to each other then one lead to the combo. Are you sure the combo will support a 4 ohm load with the internal speaker working?

First one that springs to mind is the Marshall MB4410 or MB4210, and if you daisy chain the cabs it should be fine.

yes it is a peavey combo 300 and it is rated for a 4 ohm extension cab which makes the amp work at 2ohms.

Link to owners manual if any one has any advise

Yes indeed, see my first post. Two 8 ohm cabs daisy chained.

would this require the cabs to have two plugs in the back to daisy chain? or is there a splitter or something i can use?

just be aware of the load dispersal ... the combo speakers will be getting half the output, and each of the ext cabs will be getting 1/4 of the output... might not be an issue, just something to be aware of, as the output will not be split evenly between the three ...

so i'm guessing 150 would go to the combo speaker and 150 would be split between the two daisy chain cabs?

Yes at least one of the extention cabs will need two jacks. As for the sharing of power? What is the point anyway unless the extention cabs are car stereo speakers?

You could always disconnect the internal speaker and just use the two extensions.

Most cabinets have two phone sockets in the back. One to the amp and the second to the next cabinet.
