two simple questions about my mesa boogie titan v12

Sign in to disble this ad
currently i have this amplifier connected to my 4.5 XL hartke bass cabinet. i will sell this cabinet soon to buy a mesa powerhouse 412 but in the mean time i will not have any cabinet to use with the titan.

1) i have a small hartke A 70 combo, and in the back it has a jack plug of 8 ohm that comes from the speaker and connects to the amplifier.. is it OK to plug this in the titan instead? this would be a solution for me to use the titan at home. i know i cannot push it hard as with 8 ohm the amplifier will give me 600+ watt. i just want to know if this will do any damage to the amplifier.

2) another question.. in the user manual, it says we need to give the pre amp tubes at least 30 seconds before hitting with a note. how long should i have to have the amplifier in standby after playing? how long do the pre amp tubes need to cool down?

regards

1) I wouldn't do that- even at low volumes, you could kill the little combo's spkr in no time. Bad idea.
2) 30 seconds of warm up, but no need to actually cool down preamp tubes. Just shut the amp off when you're done playing.

despite being a 110, this combo can play at "loud" volume (for its size it is loud).

i do not intend to push it at all with the titan, it is just that i have the mesa amp for about a week and now i will not be able to play with it when i sell the hartke 4.5XL cabinet.

thanks for the answers

As long as you keep the volume very low, you won't damage the speaker with the Titan.

yes, at the moment i have the titan in my room so i only use it at very low volumes.
