Hey everybody,
Quick question, I have an old combo amp that I am converting into a head, and I was wondering what kind of jack I would need for the cab to plug into. I haven't found anything on here, and Google resulted in a few things on other forums but none of them gave a specific type of jack to use.
Thanks in advance for your help. |

Parts Express also has the plugs, in case you want to make your own speaker cable. |

Everything isn't Speakon......yet. | Well i know for a fact the cab i am looking at has a standard 1/4 jack, i don't know if it has a Speakon. I was just planning on running a 1/4, so that's mainly the kind of jack I'm looking for here, and what i don't know is if i need a specific type. |

If you want a 1/4" jack, there's a lot available... the only thing that you need to do is make sure that you get a mono one, not stereo.
These are my preferred ones when I don't need a switched one: Neutrik NMJ2HC-S 1/4" Mono Phone Jack Unswitched 090-970 |

I would recommend getting a metal one, not plastic, from a good brand like Switchcraft or Neutrik. You could get a cheap one at Radio Shack but they're flimsier, weaker metal and will get loose/wear out sooner.
The Speakon's are standard on newer equipment but they still use combination ones because there's a ton of older equipment out there that have regular 1/4" jacks. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
