I have a 210 Eden combo that has been "sitting" around for the better part of 10+ years...

I fired it up again @ May to get back into playing again...and noticed that a preamp tube needed to be replaced...which I did with a "high quality" tube recommended by a fellow TB'er and it seemed to work ok but periodically at higher volumes it would seem to suddenly drop out a bit...but it soon returned to the previous volume.

Last week, I noticed a new "sizzly" sound coming from what appeared to be the tweeter and was forced to turn it off...as I'm getting back into tweaking my amp settings, I'm noticing a lack in "punch" and it just doesn't sound "clean"... my amp's limiter light seems to be lit up much more frequently than ever before...no "farting" from the speakers but there's not much volume either with gain and master around 11 o'clock...eq is set minimally as well...so I'm befuddled

Did I damage my tweeter?
Speakers?
Amp or maybe the tube?

Any help would be appreciated

Replace the HV capacitors. Over time the electrolyte in caps degrade
Causing problems. Relatively inexpensive components and may well be
The cause of your issues

Figure on three hours. One to troubleshoot (because it might not be the caps), another to replace them, a third for dismantling/assembling/testing.

Then again, it might take a lot longer if the tech isn't familiar with the amp.

Or you might contact Eden. Pull the head and ship it to them. They'll know how to fix it at the lowest cost.

Thanks...

Does it sound simple enough to fix without dumping too much $$$ into it?

PS...cool website Rick :-)

Probably so, but I've found the quickest way to cost myself money is too try too many DIY fixes in areas outside my expertise. You are on the right track to have a pro take it on. Not sure which Eden model you have, but most Eden gear is worth the investment.
