Unknown Sound from Amp

Lately, I've noticed that my amp is making some odd sounds at high volumes. I deduced it wasn't coming from the bass, and it wasn't the cable. I thought it maight be something in my bedroom rattling from the sound, ut it seems to be coming from the amp. It's in the corner of the room, so that may have something to do with it. I figured it would probably be a good idea to ask you guys before I started getting really worried.

Sorry. It guess the best thing I can equate it to is like a snare is in the same room and is rattling. It kicks in at about 9 o'clock on the volume knob (I keep all my knobs flat), so I do hope it's not a blown speaker. It's kind of like a distortion, but on top of the signal, instead of in it. It increases as I go lower in my bass's range. I can hear other things rattling (Medals from Solo/Ensemble in orchestra). I was hoping this was one of those frequently ask questions (The equivalent of "What's the best bass for metal?").

Does the amp have a metal grate? Might want to check other things on the amp make sure nothing metal is loose, screws not tightened.

Does the cab have a horn in it? If so, you might be overdriving it.

+1

Also, see if there's a particular frequency that makes the rattling louder than others. One of the shelves in my room rattles whenever I hit a D1 or D2. If that happens (resonant frequency) then the problem is something in your room and not the amp. But I would definitely check to see if anything is loose on the cab itself.

Move the cab to another room, or outdoors, and try it. If the sound stops, it's the room.

Yeah, bass amps in bedrooms tend to do that. I'm betting it's all the crap on the walls, tables and fixtures buzzing. Try turning the bass( EQ) down and see if it still happens or like someone else said, take it outside, crank it and see what happens.
