UPS just dropped off my Crown XLS 2000

I picked up the box and wondered if there was really a power amp inside! The amp it replaced weighed 48lbs and had less wattage. I think the Crown weighs 11lbs?

Pre?

I've owned the Crown XLS1500 amp for a few months now, my first amp/pre rig ever. What kinda preamp you plan to use? I use a Alembic F1-X, BBE non T and I've used my VT pedal and my Markbass F1 head as a pre.

I get most use of this amp with the BBE bridged @ 8ohms into a Epifani UL410 cab for my big room gigs, sounds huge. Gonna use it this coming Saturday.

I keep mine in a 4 space, shallow Gator rack with 1U-pre and a 1U-Fender rack tuner. Enjoy that light, powerful rig....I sure do.

I have a Crown XLS1500 & a BBE Bmax also .. I absolutely love it!
Most of the time I use a 210/115 cabs ... both cabs are 4ohms
When I really need to move some air I use a 410/118 cabs also 4 ohms each

I run the amp in stereo

I've used a Crown XLS1500 in my PA rig for over a year now. I liked it so much I bought another XLS1500 to use in my bass rig. It replaces an old - but very reliable - Crown CE1000. Of course I love the light weight, and I have had no issues whatsoever with either of them. The PA amp runs at 4 ohms per channel in stereo mode, and the bass amp runs bridged mono at either 8 ohms or 4 ohms depending on which cab(s) I am using. I have had no cause to use the built-in filters/crossovers yet, but who knows how I will be using my third XLS in the future?

The PA amp rack had 3 amps in it. I couldn't really move it by myself. 3 Crowns weigh less than one of the boat achors I have been using.

I only have a baby XLS1000 but I love it, seems to be a good match with my 15/6 cab at 700 watts bridged into 8 Ohms.

My only question is that it's not the most sensitive amp and I'm still not sure whether my Pod XT Live can really supply it with the 1.4 volts it needs for full output. It seems to need cranking a long way to get the volume I need, around 3 o clock...I know the position of the dials means nothing, but....

light for sure...

the light weight factor is what made me want to try a pre/power amp rig for the first time.

I own 5 micro heads and they do great for my small-med club/party room gigs. We gig a couple very large biker bar/ballroom sized clubs. Though I have used two, 8 ohm UL410's with a micro head before I bought the Crown. But this Crown/pre rig gets me there with ony a single 8 ohm, 410; never needed more.

Though for giggles I busted out my Carvin B1500 with two GB Neox 212T cabs couple months ago at a outdoor car show. It was pretty awesome sounding, I only use 5 stringers. But the single 410 + Gator racked rig is a much easier schlep.
