URGENT! SWR SPEAKER QUESTION

Sign in to disble this ad
What kind of speakers do SWR use? Specifically in their professional series cabinets, not the workingman's.

I have a 2001 Goliath Senior.

These days it's something made for them by Eminence who build something as good or bad as directed. Would have to look at dealer suport/repair to get replacement drivers. If you are replacing just one of many, you are stuck with dealer oem product. IF reloading the entire cab, you might contact Eminence for recommendations.

I know for years they used PAS 10s in the Goliath series cabs.

further down the page, click "specifications" and you'll get a pop up with the specs. Currently, they use Eminence Drivers, but I'm not sure if 2001 is pre- or post-Fender. But the Goliath Sr. Series III was made from '96-'07. I guess the best way to find out is to open it up and have a look.

In your case with a 4x10, it might be worthwhile to find a replacement that matches the other drivers, but don't expect much help from the current incarnation of SWR.

I recently had a speaker blow on an early 90s Goliath Jr 2x10. I opened the box and removed the speaker - no markings at all - not even a red dot on the hot lead. I sent several emails to SWR asking what were acceptable replacement drivers or essential driver variables to match - no response. I had a friend who owns a music store and carries SWR gear email them. No response.

After several weeks of this I got frustrated and just bought two 10" Eminence BP102s. I loaded them and they work fine, the cab sounds great. You might contact Eminence. They were very helpful and answered their email quickly.

Good luck!
