US mesa boogie m9 in australia

Sign in to disble this ad
hi all,
I have had an m9 imported from the US and as i have had other audio equipment from US before i stupidly did not research to see if it will work fine here. Now i have heard someone mention that it will need to be re-biased in order to work her without 'blowing up'.

My question is what does this re-biasing involve, does it apply to all models of the amp? (because this one looks atad different than amps ive seen here in stores, in that it has ventilation on the top panel which i had not seen before.)

And does anyone know places in Australia, Melbourne that i can get this done at?

Just a bit of info, as i cant find much at all, would be awesome.

Cheers all

It's not re-biasing the amp needs but converting to your 240V odd AC supply. This may be accomplished by changing a link, a switch, moving a jumper or replacing the power transformer. You may also find yourself with no warranty of any kind. Those are the risks taken by folk who import stuff from another country. As advised talk to the distributor and see if they'll help you. You bypassed them on the purchase so they could well have little interest in helping you.

Good luck.

switchable?

if it does not have the little switch (usually red) that goes back and forth between 110/220 which a lot of solid state heads do then more must be done. PM "pfschim" who is moving to Europe from US with his Mesa. He has been doing the homework/research.
