Question Use combo amp head separately- particularly Little Mark from my CMD 102P

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone chosen to remove their combo head (little mark) from the Markbass combo, to use as a head on its own. I’ve been thinking of pulling the head from my CMD 102P and using it with a 4x10 cabinet that I have. I’m sure it doesn’t have the top cover, but does anyone know if it has the sides. If so, I’d purchase the rack ears and put it in a hard/rack mount case.

Thanks in advance.

I removed my LMII from my CMD12P. It had bottom and sides, but no top. I cut a top from a vinyl tile and painted it balck. Worked and looked fine. I later picked up a Markbass gigbag which worked even better. Now, the head is back as a combo. I get bored every 6 months or so and change things around.

In any case, I have had no issues using the LMII flexibly.

Thanks BeBop...that's exactly what I was hoping to hear!

A better idea would be a sheet metal top cover. It'll add much needed screening to the amp and additional protection for the amp. Any sheet metal place will cut a piece the right size for you.

I was thinking the same...but may stop by the hardware store, and buy some thick duct I can cut with my wire snips.

A sheet metal place will cut the size you need for just a few bucks. All you have to do is drill the holes for the screws in the proper place. With tin snips you stand a good chance of cutting yourself. Trust me I've been there and done that more than once!

I just noticed that Markbass has on their website FAQ, that the warranty is voided if the amp is removed. Why? I wish manufacturers would offer the covers in case people wanted to utilize "Their" amps/heads the way they wanted to.
