Used Speakers Question...

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay then... I've got a pair of Peavey Scorpions, 15s, in a 215-D cab.

A dude wants them, and will swap a pair of BW 1505-8s for the Scorpions.

Anyone know the going used rate for these speakers, by chance? It's not a real earth-shaking deal or chance to take, but I'm just looking to be an educated swapper...

Thanks!

I don't know much about the Scorpions, but new BWs sell for $150 at the online music stores. Used, I've seen them from $50 to $100.

Check out the application for 1505-8s. May not be ideal for bass guitar.

Looks like the 1502s are for BG and the 1505s are for SR and subs.

Here you can compare specs. http://www.usspeaker.com/homepage.htm
XMax: 1505 .9mm
XMax 1502: 2.6mm
I'd say no!

edit: I just noticed US Speaker has Eminence 3015 on sale (call for price). That would be a great Neo upgrade for your cab.

You're right there on the trade. And thanks for the heads-up!

do you know which 1505 it is? there is a 1505DT and a 1505KADT. more below:

IMHO, the 1505DT is a much more useful driver for bass guitar than is 1502DT.... NOT to be confused with the 1505KADT, which is meant for PA use--- it has higher sensitivity in the mids at the expense of low-end output. the 1505DT has the same type of curvilinear cone (and reasonably good midrange performance) as KADT, but more than twice the displacement, with an xmax of something like 5mm. as such, its low-end performance is markedly better. the 1502DT is a different animal altogether, with a straight ribbed cone.

IMO, the 1505DT trumps the scorpion on every way imaginable, save maybe for performance in a very small box...

sorry for going a little off of the OT...

They kind of have different uses.. that said I'd take Widows without knowing more.

At this point I'm keeping the Scorpions and am installing the cab in a rehearsal space. Volumes won't be very high, and the scorps will do the gig.

If I can get a little time I'll look further into it, but for now it's going to suit a purpose- might just save for new Eminences.

I have a second 215D loaded with BW 1502DTs, so I think I'll live for a while. So much hassle and bread to spend on stuff! Kinda sick of it, actually... but I appreciate all the responses and time from you guys! I did ask, and got answers. I'll pick up the ball again over the weekend.

Many thanks!

Make sure the 1505's are DT, not KADT. DT=xmax 4.8mm, KADT = xmax .9 or something really short. 1505's good SPL and mid-response as well. I have one, like it.
