Used SWR Combo Purchase from GC

All, just wanted to share a good experience I just had; was looking for a used SWR Workingpro 12 combo, and found one at a Guitar Center in the San Francisco area on the GC Used Gear site. The price was great, the amp was like new as pictured, and even with shipping (which was very cheap, given that I live in the Atlanta GA area so it went cross-country) and CA tax, I saved a couple hundred bucks (about 40%) off the price of a new one. Plus I paid an extra $25 for a year warranty, AND included automatically is a 60-day no questions return policy, and I could just return it to my local GC. Additionally, I used my GC card, so I have 6 months interest-free to pay it off...

For used gear, I think this is a quite an excellent arrangement, so I will definitely be checking the GC Used Gear site for any future needs. It really takes away a good bit of risk from a used gear purchase...

BTW it is a GREAT amp, loud as hell for the size and sounds as good if not better than my big SWR 350x head/cabinet rig... doesn't look like I'll be returning it...

Wow, sounds like you got a deal there! Glad your happy.

How did you get a quote for shipping? This is what has stopped me from ordering my second 4x10. The shipping was going to be outrageous! Like almost $100 dollars! That totally killed the deal for me.

I really want a duplicate of my same cab. And used is my only option. What's the secret to the shipping game?

They cut over half off of the shipping straight up without my even having to ask to make the deal... seems like they are flexible and willing to make deals if you just ask...

Congrats on a great deal. I'm kicking myself for passing up a great buy on a SWR Super Redhead. Ya snooze ya lose.

No necessarily $100 S/H. Actually most 410 goes for $45. I got mine shipped for $10 but believe, since that, i haven't been that lucky. $45 is the standard.

Man, 45 bucks I'd have been an owner. I guess karma came back on me that time. Thanks for the info guys.

Let's see some pics of that new 12!

Congrats on a snagging a good deal!
SWR makes a great product. I've got an old Workingmans 15 that I still use weekly.
I keep it in the garage ready to load up. I picked up a used SWR extension cab for it a couple of years back at GC and occasionally set up a Workingmans 2 x 15 stack. It's not super powerful...only a couple of hundred watts...but it sounds fat and punchy and works well for low powered gigs.

I've also got an SWR California Blonde - which is the best acoustic guitar amp I've ever played through. That thing is a mini-PA all in one package.

Man, now that I think of it...I've got too many amps!....wait - is that possible?
