This is great! I love a good tongue-in-cheek comedian!

Honestly, I don't see that working out at any PA supported gig - the PH810 I'm currently using puts out more than enough low end to cause stage problems, let alone having a dedicated sub on stage...

Agreed. I assumed that the lack of low end from the bass was during rehearsals/studio time. If they were going through a P.A. there wouldn't be anything to try to fix. More or less, I have heard many a sound guy kill any and all lows from the bass through the P.A.

There is no comedy at all in my post just actual facts.

That's a relief. Thought I was ready for a sense of humour transplant as your post made perfect sense to me.

My apology to BassmanPaul. After pondering his answer, I guess he's talking about the 1x15 in this particular rig concept. I agree wholeheartedly.

If he's talking about 15" cabs in general, then I still find him hilarious.

please, i think we all (including paul) know that 15s rule!

just not tacked onto a big multiple-10s cab where they do no good, like he pointed out.

The reason larger speakers are used for subs is because having one larger speaker is, in cost-effectiveness, a more efficient way of moving air, with the additional benefit that down in the low frequencies, their tendency to beam the mids and highs doesn't matter.

+1 to the terrible idea vote. I doubt that 15 would even be audible. If you must do this, sell the 15 to fund the purchase of a brutal sub. Perhaps 2 3015lfs or 2 pv lorider 18s. You'll need a metric crapload of sub to keep pace with six tens.

personally I really like my 8-10 plus 1-30 system, twice the goodness of the classic 4-10 plus 1-15

Back to the thread : Thank you all kindly for your input The 6 x 10 he is using is a Ashdown ABM 610 with a Ashdown Spyder 550 head.

Not so sure about the settings he is using, so I can't tell anything about that.

Perhaps I think it's the best if he just keeps it with the 6 x 10. Remember, it wasn't him but his band mates that wanted an extra 1 x 15'' cab
I use a Ashdown and want a 610 and Dual Tube 550. To get more punch, just buy another head and 610.
