Using a Headway EDB-1 with acoustic bass?

Anybody out there using a Headway EDB-1 preamp with your acoustic bass guitar? If so, I'd very much like to hear how you're using it (settings) and with what other gear (bass, amp, etc.) .

I bought an EDB-1 because I'm intentionally trying to make my highly-modified upright guitarrón (UG) sound less like a typical guitarrón and as much like a double bass as possible. So I wanted a preamp that could heavily color the tone. (I'm not interested in effects.)

I have my UG strung with Rotosound Tru-Bass 88s, which are nylon-wrapped flatwounds, which already gives it a darker, thumpier sound than round wounds. But I'd like to hear from anybody who is also using an EDB-1 to color their acoustic bass guitar's sound more toward a double bass sound.

To me the Headway preamp is better at making the bass (doublebass for me) sound more natural and less colored. It still might give you what you want- try it!

If you are not happy with that I would look into a preamp like the Aguilar Tone Hammer that has an adjustable mid-eq control so you can dial in the frequencies you want to alter. Or even better is an Empress ParaEQ!
