Guitar heads will work fine for bass. Some people even record through them, you can get some great tones. No danger at all, that's only for speakers.

EDIT: In your post it isn't clear whether you're using a guitar amp or guitar speaker. Amp = ok. Speaker = very bad.

You really shouldn't play bass heads through guitar cabs. The other way around is pretty cool though!

Yes, he did, in the title.
He also said Marshall guitar amp in his post.

Make up your mind, OP.

I play my bass through my Vox AC4TV guitar amp, at low low volumes its fine, if you try to turn it up you can damage the speaker since its being asked to produce sounds its not made to produce.

Keep it super low, or buy a bass combo for cheap.

If your Marshal 4x12 has the 75 watt Celestion guitar speakers, they'll hold up much better to the abuse of bass duty than the vintage 35's would.

At the volume he's planning on playing at he won't even be sending 1 watt into them.

It doesn't matter if he said cab or amp, either one would be bad.

Running it into a guitar cab will probably blow the speakers unless you play very quietly (bedroom volume). Running a head into a full amp will seriously damage one or both amps.

I see it's business as usual around here: people speed-read a post and respond without fully understanding.

The OP said he wants to play a bass head through a 4x12 guitar cab... at a volume you could talk over.

Answer: you could have a 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 watt bass head and still safely play it through a guitar cab at that volume.
