Using two amps at the same time?

Sign in to disble this ad
I own two amps right now that I'm very happy with. An Aguilar AG500 (which admittedly I didn't get to play with that much yet because it got damaged in shipping) and an Ampeg B25B tube bass head.

I love the super thick raunchy sound I can get from my Ampeg (think Geezer Butler kind of tone) and the best part is, its only 55 watts so it doesn't take much to get that tone without blowing your ears out! However, as a sacrifice, I lose a lot of definition. I play this through a ported Ampeg 115 cab (SVT115EN) usually.

The Aggie is a great sounding clean amp (can't say anything about the distortion channel, it didn't work when I got it) so I was thinking of using this to handle the highs for definition while the Ampeg contributed girthy lows. I plan on playing this into a Berg HT210

I use a wireless, but I'm not sure how I'd hook it up to both amps, or if I would hook the amp up to a signal splitter (where do I even get one of those?!)

(Forgive my generous use of parentheses.)

any radio shack sells a simple little y cable you can use. maybe not the most elegant thing but it works. you can also use an aby pedal, available at most music stores. or you can jump channels, where you take a cable from one of the empty channels on your b25b and run from it to the ag500.

Lightbulb Well!

I run a two amp rig all the time and I have had issues in the past with the amps buzzing slightly when a Y cable is used, so I bought a Lehle
Dual transformer Isolation box expensive! but they do make a more simple box called a p-split which is faffing great and cheaper too.
Radial make one cheeper I understand but Lehle are the dogs ding dang doodley bits quality wise. Little Labs are too but just as much money if not more because of all the extra functions they have that I don't use.

Here's a pedal that was mentioned on Harmony Central as not adding any noise to your signal path (also reasonable price) http://www.startouchpedals.com/home.html#
