V-4 cab coming

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I got a Vintage all original V-4 4x12 cab off of CL. or at least the guy said he will sell it to me (waiting to hear from him on atime to pick it up) It's in very shape. He claims it's from 1966. As some of you know, I have been back and forth over which cab to get for my Ampeg V-4B, well this the one. I can't wait to hear it, but I think I may change out the speakers for Eminence Basslite S2012's. What do you guys who know about these things think?

'66? Huh? I thought the V series was a Magnavox invention, so it'd have to had been made in the 70s.

But if it's the one in Needham for 195, I'd say that's a good price.

Definitely not 66. Maybe 76. But congrats on the cab, I'm sure it's going to sound great. Wait to see how the stock speakers handle before you go changing things out. I believe there have been a few threads on people swapping in different eminence 12s in these so I'm sure a few people will chime in soon.

Corey, I am going to see how they sound first. And yes "I" it is the one from Needham. I didn't think it would be a 66', but who cares......it's a V4 4x12!

I am picking it up tommorrow, cant wait. I think i got a pretty good deal at only $150. As far as the speaker change, if I do change them out I am trying to keep the budget down, that is why I was thinking the S2012s over the 2512s. I know JohnK knows his stuff and I hope he chime in on the differences from the two.

Wow I like the looks of that. This might be the sealed box I'm looking for.

I wonder if EVM-12Ls will work in here too, and more importantly, will they sound anything like EVM-15Ls...

Can't wait for JohnK_10 to chime in.

I have the 2012's loaded in my V4 cab. I personally think they sound fantastic. They have pretty good xmax too, and the price is fair.
