V4 grill question

Sign in to disble this ad
okay, I am now replacing my grill cloth, I built a new frame since the old one was so warped and shrunk it wasn't going to work. I have done my searching. Should I just staple the midddle of each side and work to each corner? or should I staple the entire top first, making sure to line it up perfectly and then proceed to bottom and then sides? Johnk, how did you do yours? I have done the tolex and hardware over already(pictures coming) and that was a piece of cake, but this grillcloth is pain in the ass. By the way Johnk, my cab now looks just like yours, that is if I can get the grillcloth right. Oh,and it sounds amazing as well with the new Eminence Neo S2012s as well.

i make a hard straight crease on the top edge of the new piece of grill cloth and staple it in the center top. then i pull it a little so it's fairly tight, and staple it at the two ends. then i go to the bottom side and do the same thing. this should get it straight. then i staple the whole top edge, then the whole bottom edge, follwed by the two sides. i always try to get it as straight and tight as possible without warping/distorting the frame.

Thanks again Johnk, what type of staple gun do you use, regular hand held or a powered one?
