Valve Combo Amp for both Guitar and Bass
I'm looking for a Valve Combo Amp for both Guitar and Bass.
My budget is under 500€. :help:
Thanks and bye :p
That's not much info to go off of.
Generally speaking, a bass amp makes a better guitar amp than a guitar amp makes for a bass amp. If you want distortion for guitar (Marshall, Mesa, 5150, etc.) it's going to be almost impossible to find something.
Yep. I recommend finding a bass amp with a relatively flat, uncolored tone with lots of EQ options. Probably supplement for guitar purposes with a distortion pedal that also has some EQ options, and/or a graphic EQ pedal.
I will say that many years back a guitarist bought my old Carvin R600 bass head and he got some solid guitar tones out of it. I can get a serviceable distorted guitar tone out of my bass rig, but clean is tougher.
A head for both is easy. It's the combo part that makes this difficult. It's not that a speaker can't do both just that the speaker in a combo isn't. Even that assumes cone break up isn't part of the equation.
Anything that's very good at one won't be very good at the other. There is stuff out there that is "alright" at both.
Likely not a combo, but a fairly powerful tube amplifier with a ported cabinet that does not have an overly bass heavy driver in it, like an EV 15L, JBL E or K series, or BagEnd speakers.
