VB4 head

Found an Ampeg V4b head for $400 on craigslist. I currently have a Fender Bassman 250/210. Would this head give me the same, more or less volume than my amp right now? I would also like to plug the speakers from my 250/210 into the VB4. What do you all think?

Good price! Consider you may need another $300 to get it retubed and capped possibly...

and it's Ampeg V4-B the bass model of the V4

Get the V4B, but also get a proper bass cab to play it through. If it's volume you want, it's more speakers you need.

so are you saying I wont get the same volume I get from my 250/210? I'm a dummy when it comes to tubes and cabs. Any info is helpful. I usually play with 2 guitars and a keyboard and drummer. I want something that will keep up.

Depends on the cab you're pushing. If you get a 410 for the Ampeg then it will be louder than your 250/210 (and sound way better too). If you pair the Ampeg up wit ha 210 it will probably be about as loud (and sound better too).

Yes, it's all about the speaker cab. More speakers = more volume.

Yeah - those super CL scores, you've got to strike fast.

Don't bum too hard - there's lots of V4s out there. Wouldn't surprise me if that $400 one needed a bunch of work.
