I have to say, I have enjoyed reading the various reviews of the GK MB Fusion head and GK 212 MBE cabinet and think that I have settled on purchasing them next year so that I can start getting involved with bands again. The two combined (4.5lbs + 34lbs) come in at under 40lbs. Perfect for lugging around to auditions, yet powerful enough for most club gigs (
AFAIK). The two also add up to around 1000 bucks, which is what I can afford to shell out.
I searched the forums for info on "lightweight" and similar items, but seem to be overwhelmed since the info is scattered about so much.
Are there alternatives out there which I may want to have a look at before I make my purchase?
I play middle-of-the-road rock music, enjoy blues, and am beginning to get my feet wet with jazz now as well, so a bit of versatility and tone shaping is appreciated. Ultimately I will want to keep things as light as possible for maximum portability.
I should add that I wouldn't be opposed to a combo, but I see a bit more versatility out of getting a separate amp should I decide to add another cabinet down the road.
