Very noob question sorry

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey im sorry about asking this but i didn't want to blow up my amp as it gives a nice tone(and i love it lots)
It is a Ashdown EB 12-180(not evoII) and i have found these two outputs in the back:
it says 180w 300w peak, does anyone know if this is a stereo output so each is a separate power amp or parallel or w/e :L

Also if in fact this is stereo and i can add another cab which is 180(making a nice 360w rig for small-small med gigs which is light) what is a reasonable cab size for 180w?

thanks and sorry for such a noop question
Josh

I don't know that particular amp so the best answer is to go to their website and look for a manual to download and see what it says.

That said, I betcha this is true:

They are not stereo, they are just two speaker outputs so you could plug in two cabinets at the same time. The amp will output 180w under normal conditions, and will occasionally "peak" up to 300 watts when you're really cranking on the strings or slappin' and poppin. So you just need to make sure your speaker cabinet(s) can handle as much as 300 watts.

One thing to be careful of is impedance. You can check with Ashdown but it is probably 180W @ 8Ω and 300W @ 4 Ω. Which means that if you hook up 2 cabs, both have to be 8Ω. If you're only hooking up one cab it can be 4 Ω but should be able to handle 300W continuous. You can also hook up one 8Ω cab safely.
