Well, within 30 miles. It's been gone through by an amp tech, but the replaced original parts are said to be with it. I wouldn't know if it's worth what being asked (seems on the high end of other B15N's, but it's older and the condition is important). I might actually borrow the cash if it's really worth it and it's got a good sound. I don't need a high-wattage amp at most gigs since the rest of the band is acoustic now. Big decision here.

I sold my all original 1964 B-15-N on ebay for $2750. It had the dolly, hang tag, prop rod and all parts were original to the amp. Nothing had been replaced, including the tubes.

For $1200, that sounds about right, unless the casters were added to it by drilling into the chassis, then I would be worried.

The amp will be point to point wiring and most of the parts should be original. If everything was replaced underneth, and the outside is beat up, look elsewhere...

BTW, the tone out of these are sick, you should not be disappointed.

I'm calling to schedule a test. This is different than the bass I plan to buy since if the B15N is as it should be but for some reason I'm inexplicably dissatisfied later or have another financial/employment disaster occur to me, I could turn it around in reasonable time for close to the same money. I'm going to go over it with a fine tooth comb and am bringing my own bass to try it out. Reading about Portaflex details now so I can be sure everything is as it should be. If it's got the sound but is a bit beat up I'll haggle to get the price down. I'll keep my eye out here and if someone raises a red flag, I'll keep it in mind.

Tube amp, I hear you calling.

The casters were definitely drilled in to the bottom of the cabinet, you can see the screws poking in if you look at the picture of the inside of cab.

Looks pretty good. Has a cap job so you wont have to worry about that, decent power tubes, still has the original ampeg preamp tubes. Personally, I'd rather have the 4-pin plug than 1/4" jacks just because I'm a fan of keep things original, but that's not really important. This way you can easily plug it into other cabs or use other head with this cab. Seems like a pretty fair price. This is also a less commonly seen model IMO, it has the built in solid-state rectifier, which was only a feature for about a year or two before they went back to a 5AR4 rectifier.

Thanks Caca de Kick and Chopper! The one on CL is not in the kind of cosmetic shape Chopper's thread shows, but if it plays, I'll bargain with the seller. Will try to set up a meet for today if possible. He's already dropped it $100 in the listing which makes me hopeful he'll go down further.

Oh, well.

Picked the wrong month to borrow money, things were too tight to get the amount I needed. I would have had to dip into my bass savings to buy the amp, and I'm not doing that, even for a B15 (used to borrow from CCs, but college debt cured me from ever doing that again). I even was called into work yesterday and couldn't say no, so I didn't even look at the amp. Maybe next time. I still have the GAS, but some Maalox got forced into me.
