Vintage Eminence speakers

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
My Magnavox-era Ampeg VT-22 has two 12" Eminence speakers, made in 1975.
The model number is (as far as I can read) 180158-1 but it could also be
160158-1. I'm not so sure about the first digit either actually..
I have tried mailing Eminence but they don't have info on speakers that old. Could someone help me getting some more info on them please?
Thanks.

If eminence doesn't know I doubt anybody else would. Perhaps there's a guitar forum somewhere with a couple of enthusiasts if that particular amp or maybe ask around some amp techs? Good luck.

What are you looking for? They are unusable for bass at high volumes, anyways.

Especially if the drivers are in an open backed cabinet.

Since they are often used as bass amps I was hoping someone on this forum, a true speaker freaker, would have discovered the same speakers in his vt-22. I might sell them so that's why I need some info.

PS I use the amp with my 610svt hlf cab.

I have never heard of someone using a VT22 for bass.

A V4 with a V4 cabinet, sure. But that also is a sealed 4x12.

The amp is great for bass, the open backed 2x12 - not so much.

Exactly, and that is why I disconnect the original speakers and plug in my bass cab in stead.

I guess these speakers will remain a mystery to me. Thanks anyways.

Are they Eminence or CTS? Any photos to share?

Somebody would probably know the specifics of these drivers on the Gear Page website. But other than for extremely low volume playing they'd be pretty useless for bass.
