Volume drop

What would cause an amp to have volume drop past half way. Does the volume pot just need to be replaced?

Chances are good you are exceeding the power compression point of the speaker. More power just causes the voice coil to heat and increase impedance, which in turn lowers the power output from the amp head. You need more speakers and a more powerful head. Soon a new speaker?
