I've heard of Mccartney and guys like Bill Wyman using these the only ones I can find though are these 100 dollar 10 watt practice amps... anyone know what model of vox bass amp all these classic rock n roll guys were using?

Most likely old AC-100s, maybe 50s. Or 4120s bass heads.

Or the plethora of shoddy solid state equipment they also made.

Kramer's link is a treasure trove of information.

IMHO, Vox amps never did the job they needed to do. The studio sound Paul and John got on bass was almost never the sound of a Vox amp.

Old Vox tube guitar amps were/are great. Vox has never produced a good bass amp. Mac uses Mesa nowadays.

Most of those guys used the "Super Beatle" amp for Bass. In 1967 I had a vox bass amp with two 12s. I blew the speakers about every two weeks. After two months with it I traded it for a Sunn. The one I had was a combo and it came on it's own push cart. I thank it was an Essex but I can't remember for sure.

Sounds like a Essex, David.

And Jim, a fair bit of Revolver was recored by Paul through an open backed VOX 2x10.

And Bill Wyman used lots of Foundation bass's.
