The day Tech 21 couples the VT Bass to a class D amp section like the one on the Orange Bass Terror, they will have a huge seller.
I picked up the VT Bass and was astonished by how close it replicates the Ampeg sound. The pedal gets 90% of the way there for less than 1 lb. Amazing. Best bass pedal I ever heard.
Couple this with a class D amp and you have a B-15N a saturated SVT and everything in between for under 4 lbs.
Imagine that! |

Of course I think is is suppose to cop a SVT. |

Live it just doesnt cut through as well as a pure shuttle tone.
For the practice room tho...it jams |

That amp is 23 lbs. I am talking about something the size of GB Shuttle or Orange BT. |

To shag a sheep first you must catch it. Takes a real man to do that.

I sold my SVT Pro head (which sounded great) because I thought this setup sounded better while weighing less.

I prefer it in this capacity to using it in an fx loop on an integrated amplifier.
(I've also been using it between my Hammond B3 and Leslie 45--which doesn't have an amplifier in it but which has been rigged to be usable with any external amp--and somehow it is just the right thing...) |

| | | | The VT Bass 300 looks like the "Apple Ploy"
Holding back features on purpose.
I really doubt they found any measurable difference in amps they chose and a good class-d, but this way they can get sales from the excitement of the new amp and from those that believe weight has anything to do with sound. Next year they come out with a new light weight model. Or maybe they just missed the boat entirely.
