walkabout problem and its power amp section

Hi guys, geetings from the sunny city of Rome
I've got a bad problem on my walkabout head. The technician said me that the voltage transformer is brocken. The official Mesa support in Italy asked me 400-450 Euros for repairing it and 8 weeks for having the right part... it's too much in my opinion. So I sent my amp to another technician, an engineer who build bass amp, very high quality products but I know that he never have sold these out of Italy ( http://www.atsitaly.com/ats/main.asp?c=30 ). Yesterday he called me and... surprise: he said that the brocken voltage trasformer (300 watts)was underloaded because that the power amp of my walkabout is a "pulse 600", the power amp section of Mesa Pulse 600!!! So he said that the custom voltage transformer he would build wouldn't be as the old one, but will be suitable for utilizing all these 600 watt of the power amp! He said that the walkabout will weight 2-3 kg more than before, but I would have a 600watt on 4 ohms Walkabout
What do you think about? Is there anyone who have had the same experience and who have seen that the power amp is the one mounted on the pulse 600 model? If all the technician told me was true it would be a very great and beautiful surprise ... I hope this!!! But I have to spend 300 euros for all this work... I don't know, I would like to know if my american friend have had a similar experience!!!
And sorry for my bad English

Hi.

300€ sounds reasonable as the tech has to warranty his work.

If You like the head, repairing it with a beefier transformer is not a bad choice. If You don't like the head that much, and you're swapping it for another anyway, even a non-functioning MESA is worth something.

Regards
Sam

Your writing in English is fine, and thanks for using whole words instead of TXTSPK.

I have not heard of this modification. You might do well posting your inquiry in the Walkabout mega thread...Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread Pt. Tres

Now that you have more info I would talk to Mesa and see what they say. "IF" they screwed up perhaps they will repair for free.
