Walls of Amps Aren't Real?

I actually knew this, but I always suspected they were just emptied, non-working cabs. Looks like portability and ease for techies have trumped that notion.

At least a wall of amps will be cheaper to buy now.

I'm used to seeing the empty or unused cabs trick, but this takes it to a Hollywood prop level!

Decades ago, when Guitar Player Magazine interviewed KISS for the first time, Paul and Gene both talked about how when they were playing bars, the had a wall of amps- all cardboard painted to look like Marshalls and Ampegs. Paul played through a single Fender Twin Reverb mic'd, but they'd build a wall of amps as big as the stage was.

Funny how this thread is right under the one about being image conscious...

If dummy cabs/backlines are just now "News" to you, it's probably time to hang it up...

What is funny is that all those cabsheads probably say Marshall on the front, but then you see the Engl.

i think it looks really cheesy the whole wall of amps

and the only bands that actually do it are just doing it to show off

The guys behind Metalocalypse are genius. I keep seeing their references to everything metal just about every time I see something new.

Showing off is a pretty integral part of rock n' roll showmanship.

Rock n' roll + a (perceived) wall of amps & cabs = fun.

It's math!
