Walter Woods Green Light VALUE and OPINION

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, can someone tell me if $1400 is a good deal for this green light Walter Woods?

I would be pairing it with 2 Bag End Cabs (S15X-B and S15-B)

I would be using this rig for an upright (realist and mic blended with Headway EDB-1 preamp) and the other channel for electric bass (either passive 1965 Jazz or Active Alleva Coppolo LG-5)

not needing a super loud stadium rig, but a clean stage amp for moderate levels.

Thoughts?

I used almost this exact set up.. S15D and S15XD - it worked out really well especially with an active bass.

Plenty of volume and great tone....small footprint and easy to haul.

Bag End cabs are great.

This is a mono amp. I can be seen here:

Walter Woods Green Light Electro Acoustic Amplifier | eBay

Does $1400 sound like a good deal?

I have a WW green light Electracoustic model (which were made from about 1996 to the present), and it's a great amp. That seems to be in ballpark price wise. My amp sounds terrific with active and passive BG's as well as upright bass. It's my favorite amp overall, and each one is hand made by Walter himself.

I have used my WW with a Bag End S-15 many times, and it's a good combination.

Good luck.

There is a WW Green Light on eBay that just ended with no one bidding on it with a $1400 opening bid. That tells me it's not worth $1400. In today's market more like $1200. Great amps btw, but I never cared for them with the Bag End 15's, but sounds absolutely stellar with a EA CXL112.

Cool, that is actually the exact amp (the one on ebay) that I am getting. got it for below the $1400 and I've got some BagEnd Cabs on the way to try out for my upright setup.

Thanks for the info guys.

Below $1400 for any WW Electracoustic is a great deal IMHO, and an indicator of how the market is changing. I have a WW stereo green light that I love and will never get rid of but there are now a lot of amps out there with comparable specs and performance for much less than a new Walter Woods.

You did well and I'm sure you'll enjoy that amp for years to come.
