Walter Woods Ultra question

I have a 3 year old Ultra with very low usage on it. I've noticed a constant, very low volume hiss coming through even when the volume (pre and post gain) is turned completely off. I can only hear it when I put my ear to the cab but my wife (not a victim of years of guitard volume) hears it from further away.

This is not a single coil pick up issue as it's there with hum cancelling basses and with no bass plugged in at all.

Is this normal for a powerful amp like this? Does anybody have Walter's current contact info so I could ask him directly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It's probably normal. The master volume control on the amp typically feeds the input of the power amp circuit. So, the hiss generated by the power amp will always feed the speaker, even when the volume is turned down. How much hiss? Depends on the amp design.
