Wanted: Bass Cabinet Advice

Good day...my 16-yr-old son is a very fine DB jazz player. We play jazz/swing/and crazy musical arrangements. He has fine Chinese DB with a Realist pickup. He spent his b'day cash on a nice, fretless Yamaha, and wishes to learn electric jazz and classic rock as well. For his birthday, I ordered a Carvin MB10 micro bass amp (chosen thanks to helpful information I received from TalkBass threads and e-mails) I have read a great deal about these little amps and am excited to see how it sounds with both bass rigs. I found a few posts that bragged on the MB10 when paired with a 12" or 15" cabinet. I am a guitarist, and know a lot about my gear; however, I am new to electric bass gear and wondered if the forum crew would chime in to help us decide whether 12" or 15" is "best" for this amp; what are the limitations of each?; Fiber, paper, or metal cone?; Neo magnets - are they worth the extra cash? etc. Also, what cabinets provide the best value? So much information, so little brain. Thanks much.

for DB i don't know too many guys who use a cab with a tweeter in it. I'm not sure what's hot these days (you should really ask in the DB forum to be honest), but a lot of DB doublers I knew swore by the Bag End S15 cab. I think the S12 would be OK, but the 15 seemed to work really well with the upright.

I read on the Markbass site that the Traveler 121H cab was voted best for double bass, and it won an award by MIPA. But, I don't know what MIPA stands for, myself. Markbass is an Italian brand. Really good stuff. I think that cab is going for $500. It has one 12" inside. The box isn't too small either, so it probably reproduces some good lows. Neo magnet and weighs in around 33 lbs., I think it was. I have the combo version of it, basically (CMD 121H) which includes a Little Mark II (now Little Mark III) head. It is a wonderful sounding amp.
