Way OT. How do you erase a thumb drive?

I bought a new mac last month and just got around to migrating it with the old one. Things did not go as planned so I started doing it manually with a 4gig thumb drive but now its full and I can't get any more memory back. As I empty things out the memory does not change.

Empty your computer's trash, that's done the job for me before in a similar situation

Cause you guys are smart and cool and will help without being dinks. Thanks for help by the way. Trash empty gained over 2gigs. Not sure what to do with rm -rf /path/to/thumbdrive/*.

Are you saying there are no visible files on the drive and yet there's only half the space available? Wierd.

Why not reformat the drive?

Trash empty over two systems cleared it out. Did not see an option to reformat the drive but all is well. IF were computer smart I would have been able to migrate the two from the get go. Hopefully i will not have to do this for a while. Thanks for all of the help.

since you seem to have gotten the help you need, i'm closing it.

this really should not have been in amps, but, rather in misc or off topic.
