Weird noise coming from amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello TB,

So, while i was playing, i decided to dial in little more low end from the amp, a marshall MB15 bass combo, and when i started playing, besides the sound of my bass, i could hear this weird wheezing sound coming from the amp, i returned the amp to it's normal EQ settings but it wont go away, what can i do? did i ruin the amp? can it be fixed? the amp is only 6 months old.
Thank you for your contributions

Hi.

The best way to isolate the sound is to run a mp3 player or PC audio through the amp.

If by wheezing, You mean a sound like air squeezes through a tight opening (), it 9 times out of 10 is just that. One of the joints in the cab has come loose and the moving air causes the sound.

Since the MB15 is a combo, a mechanical sound from the amp section is a possibility as well. And since the amp is relatively small, blowing the speaker is a strong possibility too.

For an amp that new, I'd suggest using the warranty if the problem isn't easily found and remedied.
What ever You do in order to diagnose the problem, do not void Your warranty.

Regards
Sam
