Weird Problem... (Marshall Content)

Sign in to disble this ad
A strange issue has arisen with my MB30 combo. I turn it on, lights go on and there's the normal buzz/hiss from the speaker. I plug in a cable and it goes thunk as per normal. I touch the cable to the input jack of my bass and it mkes the normal gzzzzzk kinda sound. But, when I plug it in and play there's nothing. It's not a bass issue, as I played through my friend's amp yesterday no problem, having first noticed this issue. I've had this amp for almost two years without any problems and I'm stumped...

Any ideas?

Yep, that was my first thought. Makes no difference. Works fine until it's plugegd in. Gave it some thought and would a set of active electronics at full volume be the issue, causing some kind of overload? But I have been using the same active bass with the amp for over a year...

It appears that inserting a cable is shorting the input in some way. I cant think of exactly how but a damaged socket could cause this, but you say you have discernible noise touching the tip of the jack cable with the bass unplugged?.
When you plug the bass in nothing, Yet the bass is proven to work. Thats very very odd.
