Well? Opinions?

$2,000.00 dollars is your budget U.S. Dollars

For that amount you must buy two cabs and a minimum of a 500 watt head....what do you buy? and why?

The rig will be used mainly for metal and hard rock...with the occasional blues gig on the side...

go!

I like Hartke amps and cabs so I would get a HA5500C and two HyDrive 1x15s. There would still be enough money left to get a small rack to hold the amp and a tuner. Two HyDrive 4x10s would also be an option. According to their sensitivity ratings the volume would be only slightly higher with the 10s since they're 1dB apart. Those 15s are very efficient.

BTW - this is at GuitarCenter prices.

Carvin BX1500 amp - tons of headroom. 2 EarCandy 15/6 cabs. Full flat pack kits are available on speakerhardware.com. Best bang for your buck AFAIK. Earplugs are needed, but you'll have to pick those for yourself.

Two of these...

http://www.speakerhardware.com/fearf...deluxe-kit.php

+/- $600 per plus a $100 or so for finish and grills.

...might want to add +/-$50 per for the neo mid driver?

Call it $1400

===

then maybe this?

FS: Carvin B1500 w/Gator Rack, MC!

One really good cab will generally be better in most ways than two, if you aren't power limited by needing power valves, the 15/6 types are going to likely give you enough output alone, needing two is for when you don't have 500w minimum.

For me, I'd go with a GK MBFusion 500 head, or, GK 1001RBII,
and run it thru
Two GK Neo 212 or two Baer ML 112.

You'll probably get as many different answers as posts though.

oops!

Wrong link - meant to suggest a pair of 12/6's with the alphalite mid

http://www.speakerhardware.com/fearf...driver-kit.php

+/- $1,100 delivered - but you need to add grills and finish

What ever you buy, buy used and you will get a lot more value for your money. Frankly, I trust sellers here on TB's classifieds more than Guitar Center.

You get a 30-day trial if you buy from Guitar Center.

I would look for a used Ampeg SVT head, (4Pro, 6 Pro) and two SVT 410 cabs. Plenty of power and a great rock sound.

Snakeman1066, Why must you have 2 cabs?
And why couldn't you use a 300w all tube head?

For $2000 I would get an Ashdown ABM @ $799, two Ashdown ABM 4*10 @ $599 ea and one pint of cheap beer...

Why?.. more than good enough for plenty of famous people, its classic, and its British

I bought a Markbass Little Mark III head and two Markbass Traveler 151P cabs, new, for $1800 (actually less with a coupon). Would that suit you? I have no idea. Go try some stuff, research, and see what YOU like.

I'd be having a Barefaced Deluxe Twelve with a GK1001iiRb.

In my opinion it's better to start with one boutique cab then to go middle of the road.

My mistake, I meant fEARful cabs. I have a couple earcandy guitar cabs. Nice cabs (though the tolex is not secured properly), but awful customer service. Lots of good options here, and +1 to buying used here. I got a really nice Whappo junior clone here at a great price.

I run a stereo rig....split signal....one cab clean....one dirty.....must have two cabs....

No tube heads.....though I like the sound, touring with an all tube head is a no no for me...pain in the butt
