Whappo Jr. vs. BFM?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm curious if anyone has played both an Accugroove El Whappo Jr. and a BFM (Omni or Jack, 10 or 12)? And if so, your impressions of both?

I know the BFM's are hard to come by, so I don't expect a lot of posters.

Please refrain from posting if you've only played the one (either Whappo or BFM) - I am interested in comparison, not in "well, I've played X and it was awesome". I know they're each awesome

I've played a fEarful 15/6 next to a Jack 12; completely different animals tonally. I believe the Whappo Jr. is in a similar tonal ballpark to the fEarful; the word I have heard from people who have compared the two is that the Whappo is a little more polite on top than the fEarful design.

The Jack has a huge boost from 200-800hz or so that makes it really aggressive sounding, and quite a bit on the top end too if you use a Piezo or horn array.

Similarly, below 200hz the fEarful kicks tail, so if that's your territory, you may be better off with a Whappo or fEarful.

i play thru my jr approx 50 gigs a year. i played a omni 10 once. it was, well....your omni 10.

different animal. omni 10 is punchy & loud, very efficient.

the jr is very deep, that is, if you are outdoors
or in a very large room its perfect. rich mids & highs--seems to be no holes. in a smaller room, you may need to cut lows though. after 3.5 years its still my go-to cab

A better comparison would be to the Omni 15.

If I had an Omni 15, it would be a better comparison.

My cab - reading that made me laugh. But yeah, I remember, at the GTG.

That's about the difference that I expected. I may need some more lows for a funk project I'm doing, and the Whappo Jr. is definitely a contender.

a whappo jr is my current 'go to' cab. it's very similar sounding to my 12126.
