Wharfedale WHB200C? British sound?

Sign in to disble this ad
I ran into this interesting combo amp three days ago in a shop near my workplace, the shop guy described it as a Vox-alike amp with a hybrid head (valves/tubes go first, SS goes after) and a british sound.

So two things are bothering me:
1) Has anyone tried this amp? What's it like?
2) What does the "british sound" mean? From what I've found it's characterized by warm mids and an aggressive driven sound that kicks in late. Is there more to it?

The main reason I'm asking is - I didn't have my bass with me that day, and I want an amp that can give me both a clean sound and a growlier, more aggressive tone out of my six-string J/MM bass.

It may very well be a guitar amp, which you would not want to use with a bass.

It looks like it something new from Wharfdale, only available in England. Mid-price range.

WHB200C - WHB Series - Wharfedale

The official site shows it as a bass amp. I must admit I don't see your point.

Just saying we haven't seen them in the US. Maybe someone in the UK has some experience with them. They look like they maybe good for the price.

My bad - I forgot to quote the post I was referring to, your link clarified it.
