Iv had these horns for quite some time and need them gone. But I have no idea if they are worth messing with or just donate them to a school or something.
Acoustic 24" horns.. Are they worth trying to sell? Asking price?
Thanks |

The six tweeters are Motorola piezos, but they should not be mounted as they are, half to each side of the midhorn, the resulting comb filtering would be horrid. As they are not worth much, but depending on what the sectoral horns are and what drivers are on them those might have value, especially if they turn out to be desireable hi-fi models. |

| | Hey, what does this knob do? | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: New Hampshire | | | Wow. Time warp. Those look like the 500 Hz cutoff horns Altec used in the old 1208. We ran those and the smaller 800 Hz ones with the companion Altec drivers back in the mid 1970s. For the era, and for the money, they weren't that bad. Very spitty, but they could get reasonably loud if you knew what you were doing. For today, eh, not so great. I would pull both horns and see what the drivers are. If they're what was considered quality back then, you might have something that has some residual value to it, IF the diaphragms aren't blown out. (Out of the lot, the drivers will have the most potential resale value.) Otherwise I would donate them or recycle them for metal scrap. |

Don't be misled by the UN-Official moniker. Folks there really know ACOUSTIC products inside and out, especially the vintage stuff. This is where some of the actual original designers respond frequently. Link to this site and inquire. You will get KNOWLEDGEABLE replies.
Also, there is an acoustic users club on TB. Some of the original designers work for George Grexa of Acoustic USA.
Good luck...zon6c-f. AKA: "rikfenzon" on "unofficial" acoustic site.

Chances are the components will be labeled anyway. As a finished product IMO those horns have virtually no value. What's inside might be a different story. |

I took some pics with the back off. I don't think they will help since I didn't see anything stamped or written on the drivers. At least on the back. Heavy as hell!

A little patience is required: Sometimes a post may not be responded to as quickly as on here...and sometimes just as fast. Kinda like fishing...sometimes it's more waitin' than fishin'.... |

I don't recognize the drivers, but can't see all of them either, and I can't see any of the horn. When you get it out fully visible post your pics here too, where they're likely to recognize anything of value: High Efficiency Speaker Asylum |

I used to frequent that site years ago when before it was on Yuku.
'Poor George'. Mr Vetchking sure is spamming the heck out of that site.

But the driver from the inside says model... then nothing where the model# should have been stamped. |
